How did you get into sewing?⁣
I got into sewing when I got the opportunity to pick fashion and textiles as a subject at school. I was always more interested in the design aspect or art and design and fashion gave me the opportunity to explore that. I then went on to do fashion and textiles at college and my love for it just kept growing.

What's your favourite part about teaching?⁣
Definitely seeing the kids progress every week and I love that I’m helping children gain life long skills whilst hopefully making it fun for them! The kids are also hilarious, I just love working with them.

What's your favourite thing to sew?⁣
My favourite thing to make is probably dungarees! I’ve made a lot of them and each time I make them in a new fabric it’s still as exciting as the first time I made them.

Kaitlyn Bartlett

Kaitlyn is one of our newest teachers! She's there to help the kids learn new sewing skills, as well as helping when anyone needs any support with their projects in our classes. When she's not working for us, she also works full-time with her own business Klash Fashion which is a sustainable womenswear brand focusing on empowering women.⁣

How did you get into sewing?⁣
I began around the age of 16/17 where I was taught by a family friend and that’s where my love of sewing began! I create all of the clothing and accessories for my own brand, but working at the sewing school has also boosted my confidence as a seamstress!

What's your favourite part of teaching the classes?⁣
I love seeing the kids’ confidence grow not only in sewing but also around each other. I think it’s so important to learn a new skill as it gives them self-confidence at a young age that will then develop as they get older!"

What's your favourite thing to make?⁣
I love making t-shirt dresses and tote bags. My favourite part of the sewing process is cutting out the patterns as it reminds me of jigsaws. I’ve always found it very relaxing.

Abbie Mciver

Abbie is one of our newest teachers and a Sewing School graduate herself!
She helps out at our Tuesday and Wednesday classes, as well as making some of your Andie Kids and Andie the Label orders too! When she's not working with us, she loves dancing, regularly taking part in classes and competitions.⁣

How did you get into sewing?⁣
I used to participate in the sewing classes when I was younger

What's your favourite part about teaching the classes?⁣
My favourite part is building relationships with all of the kids and watching them progress

What's your favourite thing to make?⁣
Definite kids dungarees and scrunchies!

Amy Mckay

Amy is both a teacher at the Sewing School and one of our brilliant seamstresses!

How did you get into sewing?⁣
I initially went to college with Gill but found that the class wasn't what I expected. I left early, but then I heard that Gill had started up sewing classes for adults and that's where I really learned how to sew and then I progressed from there!

What's your favourite part of teaching?⁣
Definitely seeing the kids confidence grow and the excitement on their faces when they've achieved their garment, I love it! Also I just love seeing children every week

What's your favourite thing to sew?⁣
Definitely a cute baby girls outfit, it's just my favourite and I always have to top it off with a cute bow or turban😍
